Lagrasse sits in a valley of the Corbières between Carcassonne and Narbonne, its 8th-century Benedictine abbey — the largest in medieval Languedoc — spanning both banks of the Orbieu. The abbey is still active; a 1308 stone bridge connects village to monastery.
